Peter Pan makes traveling to Providence easy with two convenient destinations – our main terminal at One Peter Pan Way and our downtown stop at Rhode Island Convention Center.
In the heart of the downtown, known as Downcity, is the Capitol Center area which includes Providence Place Mall and Waterplace Park. The former is a 1.4 million square foot inner city shopping mall. The latter is a beautiful urban park connected to the cobblestone sidewalks along the waterfront that comprise Riverwalk. Riverwalk is home to a number of popular arts and cultural events dubbed “Waterfire,” which features a series of 100 colorful bonfires lit along the river, accompanied by music from around the world.
Just west of the downtown is the Federal Hill neighborhood, best known for its vibrant nightlife and for the Italian cuisine of its many neighborhood dining spots.
Yet another community in this city of neighborhoods is College Hill and The East Side. It’s here that you’ll find some of the city’s oldest homes as well as some of its most respected educational institutions. Those include Brown University and the world-renowned Rhode Island School of Design. But Brown and RISD are just part of this city’s educational heritage. Providence is also home to Providence College, Rhode Island College and Johnson & Wales University.
Providence’s cultural community is also well known. The Trinity Repertory Company and the Providence Performing Arts Center feature Broadway musicals, children’s shows, seasonal ballets, operas and concerts.
