Springfield, MA – As the “Coats for Kids” Campaign reaches the halfway mark, The Basketball Hall of Fame will host the campaign’s second promotional event as they welcome Peter Pan Bus Lines in an effort to “Stuff a Bus” with coats on Friday October 5th.
With a goal of collecting 10,000 coats for local children the hope is that no child will go without a coat this upcoming winter. Presenting sponsors Berkshire Bank and Belmont Laundry invite you to join The Basketball Hall of Fame as they help The Salvation Army try to attain its goal.
The initiative asks members of the community to donate new or gently used coats that have been outgrown or simply not worn. Belmont Laundry, with 5 locations throughout Greater Springfield, has pledged to clean every donated coat before it is distributed to children in need.
“We are hopeful that local businesses and people from area communities will ban together for this important cause. We are confident that helping local children stay warm this winter is as much of a priority for residents of the Greater Springfield area as it is for The Salvation Army, as we have seen such steadfast support in past years. We are truly grateful for all of the people who donate or participate in order to help us realize our goals,” said Major Tom Perks of the Greater Springfield Salvation Army.
The spirit of helping our communities children is alive and well in the championing of this initiative by so many participating sponsors, many of which are serving as drop-spot locations for people to be able to conveniently drop off coats at. Monetary donations will also be accepted in lieu of coats, as a Salvation Army kettle will also be on hand at the event. Donations are also being accepted by internet marketing firm The Green Internet Group, in Indian Orchard, MA 01151.
